About Higgins Woodcrafting

Steve Higgins began woodcrafting in his high school days, quickly recognizing a love for working with his hands. Through the mentorship of teachers and craftsmen, he was able to learn proper techniques, the proper use of tools and the fundamentals of shop safety. Steve was encouraged by his parents to explore his woodcrafting skills, but they also encouraged him to pursue a college degree. Steve followed his passion and blended it with his educational pursuits, graduating from Rhode Island College with degrees in Industrial Education and Industrial Technology.

Through a long and successful career in professional sales and sales leadership Steve continued to pursue his love of woodcrafting, completing various projects for friends, family and the occasional commissioned piece.

Now retired, Steve was able to expand his home workshop - a project nearly 50 years in the making - and now has much more time to devote to his love of woodcrafting. Additionally, he now has the pleasure of involving his sons, Stephen and Matthew, in designing and building a wide variety of projects. He continues to learn and evolve his techniques and finds appreciation of his work to be incredibly rewarding. For those who have helped him along the way, he remains forever thankful.
